Submission Guildelines


PROSPECTUS – CALL TO ARTISTS The Big Gay Art Show exhibits and sells artwork in support of the LGBT+ community and allies. Though entries are juried, the entry process is free and open to anyone that would like to participate. This event is a much anticipated, well attended exhibition open to all artists in any medium and of any level. This year the exhibition venue and date range has been expanded to accommodate this growth! The show will feature an opening reception on the First Friday July 3rd 5:00- 8:00pm and the exhibition will continue through July 12th in the Theatre Gallery and Special Exhibition Gallery (adjoining rooms) at the Sedona Arts Center. Take advantage of the opportunity to be juried into this amazing show! Calendar: Timeline of events Entries Due:  June 15, 2020 Final Notification: June 20, 2020 Take-In of Artwork: Monday June 29, 2020 from 9 am to 1 pm in the Theatre of the Art Barn artwork must be hand delivered. There is no mail-in option. First Friday Reception: July 3rd 5:00- 8:00pm Take Down / Pick Up: July 13, 9 am to Noon (Early pick-up option on Sunday, July 12, 4-5 pm) Eligibility All artwork must be original by the artist. Works previously exhibited at the Big Gay Art Show are allowed, but new work is highly encouraged.  Wall art must be properly wired and ready for hanging upon delivery, it will not be accepted if it is not ready to hang. No saw-tooth hangers accepted. Artwork will be judged by quality and creativity of artwork. All artists of any level of experience are welcome to submit work. Sales & Fees There is no fee to submit and display work, however, if an item is sold during the exhibition Sedona Arts Center will retain a 25% commission. All sales will run through the Sedona Arts Center. All entries must bear a sale price determined by the submitting artist or artists can elect to designate their work NFS (not for sale). Payment to artists for artwork sold occurs in the month following the sale to address on record from entry application. The 25% commission to the Sedona Arts Center will help pay for marketing, costs of the show, and support the show for the following year. Entering The Show: Online entry will be conducted through the Sedona Arts Center website. Jurying of submissions will be ongoing and applications are accepted through the SUBMISSION DEADLINE on June 15, 2020. Each artist is encouraged to submit up to 4 pieces for jury selection. Current contact information is necessary. The independent jury committee is comprised of three professional artists. Artists will be notified of the jurying results by email. List art sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must be measured including matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up. No changes to title, size or sales price of juried-in artwork will be permitted. Be sure the framed size and sales price are correct on your Entry Form. Print a copy of your Entry Form for reference. If you need help with your submission contact Marketing   Images of accepted artwork may be used for promotional purposes. By entering this show the artist consents to promotional use of their accepted artwork.  All artists are encouraged to help promote the show and invite the community to be a part of the event.
